Terms
Last updated 1 September 2026
These are the terms you agree to by using Kind Soup. They are short because you should actually read them.
Who can join
Kind Soup is for people caring, unpaid, for someone who needs it — and for people who used to. You must be 18 or older.
One account per person. The promise that nothing leaves a circle depends on us being able to remove someone and have that mean something.
What you agree to
The four house rules on our community promise page are the agreement. They are short on purpose:
- We witness, we do not fix. If a post is marked as a vent, advice replies are turned off.
- No diagnosing, no dosing. Share what happened to you. Never tell someone what to give the person they care for.
- Nothing leaves. No screenshots, no forwarding, no repeating it outside. This is the one with real teeth — see below.
- Ugly feelings are allowed. Resentment, grief, relief, rage. None of them get you reported for having them.
Beyond those: do not harass anyone, do not sell or recruit, do not post someone else’s private information, and do not use Kind Soup to break the law.
Taking things outside
Screenshotting, forwarding or repeating what someone wrote here — whether it went to one circle or to everyone — gets you removed on the first offence. No warning, no appeal.
We say it with that much teeth because the entire product rests on it. A promise of privacy that carries no consequence is not a promise.
What you write stays yours
You keep ownership of everything you post. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people you chose to send it to, and nothing further.
We will not use your words in marketing, quote them publicly, sell them, or use them to train machine learning models. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
What we are not
Kind Soup is not a medical service, a therapy service, or an emergency service. Nothing posted here is medical advice, including anything posted by a moderator. Moderators are caregivers who look after circles; they are not clinicians and they are not on call.
If you or the person you care for is in danger, contact your local emergency number. There is no way to summon help through this app.
Other members are strangers. We do not verify who anyone is, what they are caring for, or whether what they tell you is true.
Moderation
Moderators may remove content, warn you, suspend you, or remove you from a circle. Every action is recorded permanently against the moderator who took it.
Except for the first-offence removal described above, you may appeal any action once, and a different moderator will look at it.
We may end an account outright for behaviour intended to harm other members — harassment, selling, recruiting, or deliberately breaking a circle.
Money
Kind Soup is free and carries no advertising. If that ever changes it will be with notice, and it will not involve selling what you have written or who you are.
Ending it
You can pause your account, erase everything you have written, or delete the account entirely, at any time, from Settings. See Privacy for exactly what each one removes.
We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms. If we end yours and you think we were wrong, write to us.
Where you stand if something goes wrong
We run Kind Soup carefully, but it is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, that it will never lose data, or that everything posted on it is accurate or kind.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Kind Soup, or for what other members say or do. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by any of this.
Changes
If these terms change materially, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect — not by quietly updating a date on this page. Continuing to use Kind Soup after that means you accept the new terms.
