The Kind Soup Care Score
KS9 means beyond one caregiver.
Not a failing on your part. An arithmetic problem about how many hands there are, and the question stops being how to cope and starts being what has to change.
What somebody at KS9 is doing
If somebody told you this is their number, this is roughly what their week looks like.
- More than one person can sustainably do alone.
- Usually no paid help and no family sharing it.
- The question has stopped being how to cope and started being what has to change.
It measures the work, not the illness
The Care Score is 1 to 10 for how much care somebody is actually giving. Two people looking after someone with the same diagnosis can be at KS3 and KS9, because what separates them is hours, nights, whether the person can be left, and whether anyone else helps.
KS0 is reserved for people who cared for somebody until they died. It is not a diagnosis and it is not medical advice.
